Grab and Conveyor Felling Drums
Secures logs through physical gripping force and transports them to the processing location. In combined fellers (such as feller-delimber-bunchers), they grab fallen logs and transport them to the delimbing mechanism.

Debarking Felling Drums
Remove bark through friction or impact. In paper processing lines, sharp-blade drums are preferred to improve fiber quality. In water-flow log processing, blunt-blade drums are used to reduce wood loss.
Tensioning and Adjustable Felling Drums
Dynamically adjust the drum spacing to accommodate varying log sizes. This reduces downtime and adjustment time in mixed-diameter log processing lines. For operations in complex terrain (such as felling on slopes), angle adjustment maintains grip stability.

Daily Maintenance
Drum Cleaning: Clean bark and sawdust residue after daily operation (pay particular attention to the gaps between the drum and the hydraulic connections).
Lubrication and Maintenance: Apply lithium-based grease (such as SKF LGHP2) to the bearings and chain every 50 hours.
Blade Inspection: Check blade wear weekly (sharp peeler blades require replacement if wear exceeds 1mm).
Periodic Inspection
Hydraulic System: Replace the hydraulic oil and filter every 200 hours (ISO VG46 anti-wear hydraulic oil is recommended).
Transmission Components: Check chain and belt wear every 500 hours (chain elongation >3% requires replacement).
Structural Alignment: Laser align the drum axis annually (adjustment is required if deviation >0.5mm).
Consumable Parts Management
Spurs/Blades: Create a wear log and replace them according to service life (e.g., Level 1 wear: 100 hours, Level 2 wear: 200 hours).
Bearings: Replace every 1000 hours (using SKF or NSK brands increases lifespan by 30%). Seals: Check O-rings and oil seals every 500 hours to prevent hydraulic oil leakage.
Personal Protection
Operator: Must wear cut-resistant gloves, goggles, and anti-smash shoes (compliant with ANSI Z87.1).
Bystanders: No unauthorized personnel are allowed within 50 meters of the work area (splash from the drum can reach up to 10 meters per second).
Equipment Safety
Protective Cover: Exposed parts of the drum must be fitted with a steel protective cover (thickness ≥ 3mm, mesh size ≤ 50mm).
Emergency Stop: Red emergency stop buttons (response time ≤ 0.5 seconds) are located on the operating table and on both sides of the drum.
Warning Signs: Warning signs such as "High Voltage Danger" and "Rotating Parts" should be posted in conspicuous locations on the equipment.
Environmental Safety
Terrain Assessment: Before working on slopes, check the bearing capacity of the ground (slopes > 25° require foundation reinforcement).
Weather Restrictions: Stop operations during thunderstorms or strong winds (wind speeds > 10m/s) to prevent the drum from losing control.
Fire Prevention Measures: Fire extinguishers (dry powder, capacity ≥ 4kg) should be available at the work site and kept away from flammable materials.
