An excavator bucket door is a movable gate mechanism installed at the bottom of the excavator bucket. It's not standard equipment on excavators, but rather a functional accessory designed for specific working conditions. It replaces the traditional "shoveling" action of excavators, achieving more efficient and precise unloading.

SAnti-Soil Leakage Design
The front hopper door is forced closed by rollers when the bucket is raised, preventing material spillage during transport.
The rear hopper door uses sliding plates and opening and closing rollers to ensure smooth material discharge from the rear during unloading, while also preventing spillage during the return trip.
Loading and Unloading
The hopper door and the bucket body together form the loading space, bearing the weight of the material. The rear hopper door opening and closing mechanism (such as a hydraulic cylinder or mechanical linkage) enables rapid unloading and improves operating efficiency.
Wear Resistance and Optimized Strength
High-manganese steel or wear-resistant alloys are used in high-wear areas (such as sliding plates and rollers) to extend service life. Thickened plates and reinforced ribs are used in the structural design to enhance impact resistance.
High Unloading Accuracy
Material is discharged directly from the bottom, allowing precise filling into ditches, truck beds, pipeline trenches, or designated containers, eliminating spillage and waste. Even in situations with limited swinging space or obstructions, the bucket can be unloaded without swinging significantly, significantly improving operational safety and convenience.
High Operational Efficiency
Switching the bucket to the discharge point and swishing away the soil is eliminated, significantly reducing cycle time, especially when unloading over short and medium distances. For operations like trench backfilling and ground leveling, the bucket door allows for evenly distributed material, which can then be compacted and leveled directly with the back of the bucket, significantly exceeding traditional methods.
High Safety
Reduced excavator swinging reduces the risk of collisions with personnel or other equipment on crowded construction sites. Unloading is more stable, eliminating the risk of machine rocking and unstable center of gravity caused by swishing away soil.
Excellent Applicability for Special Working Conditions
Excavating with the bucket door closed prevents silt from being lost in the water. Once out of the water, the door can be opened to discharge at a designated location, achieving excellent silt removal results.

Classification by Structural Type:
Front hopper: Located at the front of the bucket, it prevents soil from leaking out during transport and is commonly found on backhoe excavators.
Rear hopper: Located at the rear of the bucket, it controls the direction of discharge and is suitable for front shovels and loaders.
Combined hopper: Combines the functions of front and rear hoppers to achieve a two-way seal and is commonly found on specialized engineering vehicles.

Classification by Actuation Method:
Mechanical hopper: Opens and closes via a linkage or gravity, offering a simple structure but a low degree of automation.
Hydraulic hopper: Powered by a hydraulic cylinder, it offers flexible operation and is commonly found on large excavators or in applications requiring precise control.
Earthmoving:
The standard bucket features a front hopper, suitable for excavating and loading clay and sand.
Mining:
The rock bucket features a thickened hopper and wear-resistant materials for loading ore after blasting.
Municipal Engineering:
The cleaning bucket utilizes a rear hopper tilting mechanism for efficient silt removal, and the tilting bucket can be adjusted to adjust slopes.
Agriculture:
The loading bucket features a simplified hopper structure, suitable for handling bulk materials such as grain and feed.
Side panels and arc panels:
These form the main hopper door frame and are roll-formed from high-strength steel plates (such as 6mm thick standard steel) to ensure structural rigidity.
Reinforcement angle steel:
Angle steel (such as 40×40×45) is welded to the upper and lower edges to enhance overall deformation resistance.
Rollers or slides:
The front hopper door uses rollers that work with a control card to force closing during lifting. The rear hopper door uses slides that slide along opening and closing rollers to control opening and closing during unloading.
Connections and seals:
These connections utilize pins, bolts, and other methods, and are equipped with sealing strips to prevent soil leakage.
Modular Design:
The hopper and bucket body are connected detachably (e.g., bolted together), facilitating repair and replacement, reducing maintenance costs.
Balanced Lightweight and Strength:
While maintaining strength, structural optimization (such as hollowing and thin-wall reinforcement) reduces weight and improves excavator efficiency.
Adaptability Improvements:
The hopper shape and material are adjusted to suit different working conditions. For example, the rock bucket utilizes imported high-strength steel for its lip and tooth plate, making it suitable for excavating in rocky terrain. The cleaning bucket adjusts its angle via a tilt cylinder, improving river desilting efficiency.
