Front Idler Shaft

Front idler shaft is an important component in electric shovel equipment. Its quality directly determines the efficiency and failure rate of the electric shovel during traveling and operation.

 

 

(1) Raw materials: The front idler shaft is made of high-strength alloy steel 40CrNi2Mo. It can withstand the complex stresses such as huge tension, torque and impact force generated by the electric shovel operation. For example, in the WK series electric shovel in large open-pit mines, the material of the tension shaft must have high strength and toughness to adapt to the harsh working environment.

(2) Production process: The front idler shaft is forged by forging process, and then the appropriate heat treatment process is selected for heat treatment, and finally machined. In order to improve wear resistance, corrosion resistance and reduce friction, the surface of the tension shaft is usually quenched, carburized, chrome-plated, etc. to enhance its surface hardness and finish and extend its service life.

(3) Production equipment: forging press, heat treatment furnace, CNC machine tool.

 

 

(1) Providing tension: In the travel mechanism of the electric shovel, the front idler shaft is used to tension the crawler or chain to keep the crawler or chain at an appropriate tension, ensuring that the electric shovel can move forward or backward stably during travel. If the tension shaft fails, the tension of the crawler or chain will be insufficient or uneven, resulting in unstable travel of the electric shovel or even failures such as chain derailment.

(2) Transmitting power: As part of the transmission system, the front idler shaft transmits the power of the motor or engine to other parts of the travel mechanism, such as the drive wheel and the supporting roller, so that the electric shovel can realize the travel function. In this process, the tension shaft needs to withstand a large torque and shear force, so its strength and rigidity requirements are relatively high.

(3) Buffering and shock absorption: During the operation of the electric shovel, various vibrations and shocks will be generated. The front idler shaft can play a certain buffering and shock absorption role, reducing the damage of these vibrations and shocks to other parts of the electric shovel and ensuring the normal operation of the electric shovel.

 

 

(1) High load: Electric shovels need to bear huge weight and resistance during operations such as excavation and loading. As one of the components that bear these loads, the front idler shaft has a very high workload. For example, in large open-pit coal mines, electric shovels need to work continuously for several hours or even longer every day, and the tension shaft is always under high load.

(2) Harsh working conditions: Electric shovels usually work in harsh environments such as open-pit mines and construction sites, facing the erosion of debris such as dust, soil, and ore, as well as the influence of harsh climatic conditions such as high temperature, low temperature, and humidity. These factors will have an adverse effect on the performance and life of the tension shaft.
