The Wear Pattern Of Track Shoes
Aug 13, 2025| During normal operation, the track pin slowly rotates backwards in the pin hole, and both wear evenly. The pin hole gradually becomes larger and the pin gradually becomes thinner. If the operation is improper, such as turning at high speed, starting suddenly, or getting stuck in mud, water, weeds, etc., it will cause the left and right sides of the track plate to be under heavy pressure and bend downwards, causing the pin to deform and bend, unable to rotate in the pin hole. The pin and pin hole become sliding friction, and the friction area is limited to a small part of the contact surface. The pin gradually grinds into a curved shape, and the pin hole also becomes elliptical. The increase in the pin hole also causes the track pitch to lengthen (the pitch is the center distance between the holes at both ends of the track plate), so the track plate and the driving wheel rub against each other, the track plate is worn through, and the driving wheel teeth are in a blade shape. According to the measurement, when the pitch changes from 174 millimeters to 184 millimeters, the opening width of the driving wheel teeth changes from 87 millimeters to 97 millimeters, and the normal rolling meshing is completely destroyed.
Due to the elongation of the track shoe pitch, it also causes the support wheels to jump during walking, accelerating the wear of the track shoe runway section. When the sinking of the runway area exceeds 4 millimeters, it should be repaired.
The wear of the guide part of the track plate is mainly caused by the deviation of the track, severe deformation of the track plate, and excessive axial shaking of the support wheel and guide wheel.
Common scrapped track shoes are severely worn or worn through in the meshing area with the driving wheels.
